We help you thoughtfully collect and strategically apply patient experience data.

Applied Patient Experience, LLC is a patient engagement and patient-centered research consulting firm. Our expertise is engaging individuals and their caregivers about their experiences living with a disease or disability and applying those insights to guide decisions across drug development, value/health technology assessment, and real-world studies.

  • Patient engagement research

We conduct studies to collect primary data about patient and caregiver experiences living with and treating a disease or disability. Example methods include in-depth interviews, patient experience mapping studies, and surveys. All our studies are conducted in alignment with best practices and formal guidance, so they meet the quality expectations of decision-makers.

  • Patient-centered outcomes

We partner with you to identify outcomes and impacts that are meaningful to patients, their family members, and other caregivers. This may include a landscape assessment or literature review, primary data collection (e.g., patient advisory boards or concept elicitation interviews), or an evaluation of patient involvement in the development of existing outcome measures.

We also offer training about patient-centered outcome terminology and best practices.

  • Value/health technology assessment (V/HTA)

We partner with patient groups on individual assessments, including collecting data and providing recommendations for how analysis plans could be modified to better integrate patient experiences. We work with academic institutions, V/HTA bodies, and life science companies on methods-, data- and policy-related projects.

  • Real-world evidence

We partner with researchers to design real-world studies that evaluate questions that are meaningful to patients and reflect, as closely as possible, their lived experiences inside and outside the health system. We consider how patient experiences outside the health system can inform how researchers operationalize key aspects of study designs, including populations/subgroups, study periods, covariates, sensitivity analyses, as well as interpret and disseminate the results.
